Ground Crew
Some of these members are CEO's in training, or business owners who have risen through the ranks over time. Often they have “Specialist” training and now need to broaden their vision and perspective and learn about the other aspects of business. All of this should happen by learning from the mistakes of others.

The topics deal with all matters of business, finance, marketing, strategy, planning, sales and people management. We are not trying to make each person an expert in each one of these fields; rather we aim to introduce them to these fields of business. Some of the members will be more knowledgeable than others. That’s ok – because they can contribute with their knowledge to the discussion, raising the level of input and participation.

As with "The Boardroom", the mix of the group and the quality of the group is largely dependent on the members. Diversity in all aspects is vital it adds the different perspective. They learn as much from each other as they learn from the presenters.

We are also drawing them into the presenting of topics. This hones their presentation and communication skills, often underdeveloped. The art of managing people is taught in the fewest of places – a really hot topic for us in this group. Again, there are some that are better at it, having had more practice than others – and they in turn become part Coach. Each member has something special to contribute, stemming from his background, his experience, his training, his strengths and his passion.

The difference between being a member of a Ground Crew and other organisational developments are fundamental:
  1. It is ongoing, just like "The Boardroom". We meet monthly for a half-day.
  2. It is not a rah- rah session, but rather one focused on learning and turning that learning into action.
  3. Learning from each other is a vital element responsible for a large part of the success of the process.
